  • Having seen the entire run of the 80s show somewhat recently, Adam is at best a bad friend to Cringer and at worst downright abusive.

Like, Cringer has sapience. Full stop. He can talk and everything. Generally he just wants to stay home when Skeletor is up to something. Then Adam rolls by and transforms into He-man and then strips Cringers abnormal intelligence away, turning him into nothing more than a growling beast named Battle Cat that he can ride.

  • I’m going to assume it’s the typical “Nobody ever get fired for buying from IBM” mindset

That’s pretty much it exactly. Yubico has the required features, are widely supported, and are widely used. They have a track record of reliability.

Other viable alternatives definitely exist, but they don’t have the same real-world penetration. The disadvantage with that is if you run into a platform-specific issue, finding someone who has had the same issue before and posted the solution somewhere becomes far less likely.

It’s old wisdom from way back when soap was made from lye.

That kind of soap is much harsher and can dissolve the seasoning, which is just a bunch of layers of polymerized oil that protects the metal from rust and gives it a glossy, almost non-stick coating.

Modern dish soap is nowhere near that harsh and is completely safe to use on a seasoned cast iron pan. It’s just that your grandparents and great grandparents beat that lesson into their kids and it stuck.

Cast iron is fine to cook on, but I much prefer stainless steel. It’s a bit harder to get the results you want, but it’s way easier to maintain.
