  • Developers should choose a different license if they don’t want to free their code or go work on a project that’s inline with their values then. Poor them, I could care less. The GPL is made for YOUR freedom. Anything that allows a developer to not release their code because they don’t want to, well, that software becomes proprietary, which invades your freedom. Of course the GPL “restricts” those types of developers freedom to do whatever they want, how else would the software stay free? Don’t really understand what your arguement is here.

  • How is it so far? I’m thinking about getting a used motorhome around $15k, most likely from the late 90s or 2000s (one with at least a shower and toilet). I’m not a huge traveller, but boondocking seems interesting if I had a plan lined up, I would be open to living that way. I make around $65k/year and am single, no debt, so I think I could make it out. I already live a simplistic life, all I need is my guitar, laptop, and maybe a dog and I’d be chilling. The only thing I wonder about is surviving winter time or when it gets really hot out.

  • Worked as a cashier and manually entered the price for a cheesecake as $2.99 instead of $3.99. I only made that mistake once, and was fired for it even though I worked there for two years.

They told me they have a zero-tolerance policy regarding this. They even called in one of their security professionals to investigate, pulling footage of me and everything.

    Fuck you, King Kullen.

I think we should attack this issue at the root. There are already backdoors in the devices anyway, so what’s this court case really going to achieve? I get it, because it would be a known backdoor, but think of all the nastier NSA backdoors that aren’t disclosed to the public. We’ve lost already by the masses using this proprietary garbage. Schools have failed to teach libre software, this is one of the major reasons we’re here in the first place.

I agree. If it’s not libre from the start, we should not trust it. The term “open source” is ambiguous; they could just put it under some restrictive open-source license and then revert to closed source later. If it’s put under a free software license like the GPL, then I’ll feel better.

Trust me, I have a good feeling that she told them. It’s kinda obvious. But you’re right, I don’t know for certain. I’m just starting to feel like this is all too much for me, I have to study for my certifications for my next job, I don’t have that much time to learn Spanish right now… If she hadn’t told basically everyone, I would’ve learned for her.

  • Yeah, sure. The point is if she tells everyone someone will eventually find out and I feel like I will get in trouble. Workplace relationships are not allowed here and she doesn’t seem to understand we have to keep it lowkey. Now that everyone knows, I feel like this is a missed opputunity for something.
