Court reporters have used stenography for over a century to write at over 200 words per minute, faster than most people speak

Shorthand is an abbreviated symbolic writing method that increases speed and brevity of writing as compared to a normal method of writing a language. The process of writing in shorthand is called stenography, from the Greek stenos (narrow) and graphē or graphie (writing).

Stenography often requires you to press 5 or 6 keys at once, and sometimes as many as 16.

I don’t have enough fingers to qualify as a stenographer.

haha, sounds impossible, right?! It becomes possible because you put your fingers between two vertical keys, so you can do it with the 4 fingers on each hand on the home row keys (asdf jkl;) - try for example putting a middle finger between “E” and “D” on a keyboard and pressing them both at the same time

edit: you could hit more keys by putting your finger in the middle of four of them
