Yes, and the Canadian acts that passed around the same time… and the newer Canadian bills passed and being proposed that are basically even more hardcore than the patriot act, except WITHOUT the threat of any terrorists. Canada right now is like ‘we never needed these laws, but just WANT them anyway’.

I propose this law:

Ban politicians from trying to do this shit AND strengthen privacy laws and throttle data collection. Allow anonymous SIMs and phone calling. You might ask 'but what about drug dealers and terrorists?" Trust me, they’ve been able to handle them before without any of these bullshit laws, AND if they have a REASON to suspect those individuals then due process can be applied, warrants, and shit like that. But for the average person, no.

The Patriot act and many of the anti-terror laws passed in wake of 9/11 need to be gotten rid of, they have had no discernible good effect. I have to repeat myself… the fact that 9/11 wasn’t foiled was due to a MONUMENTAL intelligence failure. They had warnings, tips, intelligence, everything they needed to stop the ploy, but they just sat on their asses and did nothing. The whole ‘we need laws to help prevention, to be proactive and not reactive’… dude, intelligence agencies foiled plots before any of these laws were passed, and they CAN be proactive if they want. Conspiracy to commit a crime IS a crime, and that included hijacking airplanes to use as weapons.

You know what happens to cops who shoot blacks multiple times without justification? Most of the time it isnt swept under the rug. It is actually rewarded behavior. They get promoted down the line and often end up better off than their less violent colleagues.

I vent my frustration at cameras when I play the Hitman games. Even when I destroy the footage and shut down all surveillance (god i wish it was as simple as typing a few buttons or shooting a single bullet into a computer.) I still destroy cameras either by shooting them or (more viscerally) throwing something at them.

I worked in tech support for several years last decade… and the amount of people who tell me ‘my Facebook isn’t working’ to mean their internet connection is bust is insane. And they aren’t getting any smarter. Last time I worked tech support was in 2021 and I got fired when I nearly lost my shit with an American client who demanded to know why he couldn’t enter a company store without a mask.

Exactly. Local connection. Why the fuck does it need access to some server somewhere? I am sorry… but if they have updates for their shit available they need different ways of making it available.

Also why the fuck does the company need audio recordings from your home? That is literally spy shit. And why does it need the layout? Even if they were doing it purely to improve their products and make them be able to work around confusing layouts and obstacles then that shit needs your full knowledge and consent… and you can withdraw consent at any time for any reason.

Gaming is not the issue for me. All my games work fine. The problem is using some cheats that I did for some games like cyberpunk 2077. I cannot get PINCE or cheat engine to work on it.

Same here. I actually had windows 11 for a bit… but not any more. I went linux and never looked back.
