What ZFS are you using?
“As of November 2023, this feature was merged in main and is scheduled for release in OpenZFS 2.3:”
'The OpenZFS project (ZFS on Linux, ZFS on FreeBSD) is working on a feature to allow the addition of new physical devices to existing RAID-Z vdevs. This will allow, for instance, the expansion of a 6-drive RAID-Z2 vdev into a 7-drive RAID-Z2 vdev. This will happen while the filesystem is online, and will be repeatable once the expansion is complete (e.g., 7-drive vdev → 8-drive vdev)."
Awesome! Interesting with MTU. This was a first hit google search, seems MTU in wireguard setup plays a role also. https://gist.github.com/nitred/f16850ca48c48c79bf422e90ee5b9d95
It may not even be the issue, I’m just spitballing, and it maybe DNS issues like others mentioned or cell provider blocking some aspect. As you probably know Wireguard can be set for all traffic to route through the tunnel, or some outside of it. Maybe cell network is not routing DNS through the tunnel, but using its own, or maybe they used a cached Domain name lookup that doesn’t have your domain IP. Again, networking/DNS etc is my blind spot. I.e. I have setup openmedia vault on a 256MB RAM arm board to serve my music and SMB shares, but I don’t understand reverse proxy LOL.
Long whike back my cousin in the UK loved it, he was raving about how fast paced and exciting it was. I was like whaaat? After some discussion it turns out the televised games for UK were being edited, they would cut out all the delays and timeout and reorganizing on field so the games were super quick looking.
I don’t have a lot of networking skill here, but could it be your WiFi connections (anywhere) are IPv4 and on mobile it forces IPv6, thus why you can connect via IP:port? Typically your wireguard host machine has IP forwarding/masquarading setup so you can reach your home LAN. Could this be an issue through the router / proxy?
There was an openSUSE suggestion, just a note that default install adds a lot of packages, at the preinstall summary you can click the software title and unchecke patterns you don’t want, or go into further detail and check/uncheck single packages. You can make OpenSUSE as minimal as you like.
I assume being the extreme level coder dev types that program logic all day start seeing life has black and white, and generally humans are not like that.
Wow, that is rough. :(
End of year is balance time to see f your addition income r extra credits mean you pay tax or receive withheld tax back. Like if you have a baby mid year, or your spouse goes on disability, those grant you tax credits.
Was your chemo treatment also combined with a surgery? I found after cancer surgery my brain was foggy, and chemo did not help. One thing I notice though was whatever it fogged up also halted any anxiety. Not that I’m an anxious person, but things like “aw crap I have a big bill coming in a week and not enough income” used to be on my mind, now its like Meh whatever
Yeah, I was going to leave it for the joke, but changed it.
I can’t answer the main question, but anecdotally I find different distros work differently on different hardware. Like one laptop I have will not install, or if it does install it won’t boot, any Debian based distro, but RPM based is fine. There is some bios bug or quirk that fails with deb, but rpm distros acknowledge and move on. So sometimes distro hopping can help.
I never tried for YouTube. I mainly use for technical info, in which it gets me to the results. Google has an advantage for YouTube search since they own both platforma and share meta data. Stract is probably oldschool webcrawling. I did read somewhere that it takes time for it to build up its hit results. Did you try the content filters?
Stract.com free and no ads. Some guy built it in his basement. He suggests it may need paid tier or ads in future to support it. It gives results like google did in 2010 era before all the ad nonsense
There is RedHat and SUSE. Which are also the only two certified distros for running corporate/enterprise CAD/CAM/FEA and PLM software. They both provide rock solid stability.
Well technically that is phonics, you see a new word, as a learner, you know how to sound it out. Compared to the Whole Word learning method where somebody has to teach you what a word says. English is a nasty mess of both.
It would still have happened at some point, chatgpt is not the only AI. I hate we called it AI.
Yeah my wife uses Market Place, but for me their privacy policies and data gleaning steered me away. Craigslist is still big and busy where we are in the Vancouver area. Either way it good to connect locally.
We bought 6 Eggnog oat/ soy milk on sale from grocery store. Odd taste compared to other brands, rather than return my wife put it for free on Market Place, and some family came and got it. They were so happy since it was their favourite kind.
We found a 7 foot tree for free, a retired dude was having to leave his apartment to go into longterm care. We offered him cash for it, but he wouldn’t take it. My wife took a cutting and propegated it for a while, then we dropped it off at his care home with a watering can so he can continue growing his tree. They keep in touch once in a while.
I think these moments got lost for a while with the technology boom, and people staying home being constantly entertained.
Not sure on MergerFS…I haven’t gotten deep into ZFS pools.
