  • Because self-censorship is done to avoid getting filtered or demonetized on certain platforms due to policies put in place by those platforms to attract advertisers. It is not done because of the person’s moral or ethical beliefs. It’s basically willing compliance with internet enshittification to whitewash everything and make it advertiser friendly.

  • Which is why I feel that for humanity to succeed we will eventually need an entirely new form of societal governance to replace capitalism & communism, just as those systems replaced feudalism and tribalism. Something like technoism where decisions are made and enacted by machines, incapable of self motivation; or geneticism where leaders’ selfish impulses are either bred or edited out of them. We are still many, many years off from technology being able to accomplish this, but the only way to overcome the human factor is to… well… remove the human factor.

  • If the election were between Trump and somehow someone even worse who was calling to nuke the entire area and turn it into glass, then I would absolutely be pushing for Trump. Shockingly, if we are trapped in a horrifying, dystopian version of the trolley problem (which we are), I’m going to make the choice that causes the least damage.

Using another analogy, if you have a badly broken arm, you can either set it and try to keep it immobilized, or you can let it stay how it is and all but guarantee that it gets fucked up even worse as it heals wrong. Voting third party is like saying “I don’t like either of those options since they both involve my broken arm, so I choose to pray to the Moon Goddess”. There is no option that immediately stops your arm from being broken. You can delude yourself and say the Moon Goddess will magically fix it, but in reality, you are choosing the option that does nothing and makes it worse. Choosing to set your broken arm doesn’t make you “pro-broken arm”, it’s just the only practical choice given a terrible situation.

Sadly I think there are people out there like this

The only sad thing is how much brain rot people like you have gotten from the internet to believe shit like this exists anywhere in reality. You’ve built up examples in your head of awful people doing awful things, except all those examples are fake bullshit like this.

Like, despite this clearly being fake, here you are saying a version of “Well it might be fake THIS time, but I could see it happening so I’m going to continue to use it to reinforce my belief”

  • There are so many reasons to dunk on Elon, but this isn’t one of them. Generic looking humanoid robots isn’t “ripping off” I, Robot. It’s literally the most common depiction of futuristic robots around.

You wanna dunk on Musk? Talk about how his robots were remote controlled with humans talking through them. Talk about how most of his family has disowned him and refuses to have anything to do with him. Talk about how he has Trump’s dick firmly in his mouth because he might be in hot water over supplying equipment to Russia and might face prosecution if Trump isn’t elected.

But this just screams of low-hanging Musk-bait, where journalists will write anything negative about him knowing that those who have hate-boners for the guy will eat up whatever crap they shit out, even if it doesn’t make sense. It’s like going “Elon Musk ate cereal for breakfast! What a fucking loser!”

  • I’ve seen so many people grudgingly pretending what they saw wasn’t one of the coolest fucking things they’ve seen all year all because they hate Musk. Like, you know he’s not personally involved in the design or manufacture of these things right? By all accounts he’s more of a hindrance and these amazing fears of engineering have been accomplished despite him, not because of him.

I personally don’t really care how big of a douche Musk is, as long as he’s willing to fund these kinds of things.

  • Time LINE. You’re talking about going so far back that humanity wouldn’t exist. And if you go that far back and try to jumpstart evolution to have humans exist sooner; disregarding how that completely ignores how evolution works, any society that would arise would be indecipherable compared to our own. The resulting “humans” could be hairless and have purple skin. Think of the hot-dog fingers timeline from 'Everything, Everywhere, All At Once" except the world they live in wouldn’t look anything close to ours. They would instead communicate entirely by slapping and live in long tunnels made of beeswax or some shit like that. There are too many branching paths and variables to get anything even close to recognizable.

For the purposes of the main question OP asked, it’s pointless to go back that far. We’re no longer talking about “how might modern society be different if we had made different choices, and what choices have we made that turned out to be good?” but instead saying “what if humanity never evolved and something else did instead?”

A better example, let’s look at the Grand Canyon. Carved by the Colorado River over millions of years. But let’s say you went back far enough to deviate the river’s path so that it never ran through modern day Arizona. At that point, it’s pointless to ask how the Grand Canyon might look different because there wouldn’t BE a Grand Canyon!
