Oh boy I’m no social democrat. A radical socialist if you prefer. You can have radical ideas like ending capitalism or taxing inheritance to 100% while still being for democracy and not being a revolutionary.
I consider myself a socialist/leftist and my primary concern right now is not to dominate the bourgeoisie. It’s mainly to get them to stop tax evasion so we can fund our public schools and hospitals. And if they could stop voting for candidates who are in coalition with the far right that’d be nice too!
Well I’d say communism is a type of socialism, where the latter is the ideal to strive for a better society for everyone, to intervene to help those who cannot help themselves. Communism tries to achieve this goal by making the means of production into communal ownership. With the State enforcing strict wealth equality. But it’s still socialism with economic inequality at the beginning but fair and strong wealth redistribution in the end: equity.
I’d even replace communism with socialism. Since it’s also vilified in the US, but it’s a broader term which is, to me, more relevant nowadays.
Yeah I know, like sbin isn’t used in most modern distros, right?
It might be extra funny because I saw this at the bar.
Thank you for that, I always wondered about the meaning behind a few of these directories.
They use every loophole legally available to them (you know what I mean, the button “I agree to sell my soul” being a hundred times bigger than the link to “I’d like to review your data collection and say which analytics service I adhere to”). But I haven’t seen a website where they threaten compulsory personalized ads if you don’t pay. It’s generally “pay or you get cookies”. But I tought those weren’t third party cookies, just in-site ones.
Good thing this was forbidden in the EU a few years back. As a user, you can’t refuse “necessary cookies” but those from third parties you can (e.g. Google analytics). Imposing personalized ads if you don’t pay is definitely forbidden in the EU I’d say
Don’t you worry about it, wine has been around since the 90s. So many desktop apps you like on windows will be really functional, and you can see their individual compatibility ratings on https://appdb.winehq.org/ For games, it’s another mater. But most of the time it’s fine wether it be on steam proton or wine-ge. Try it for a few weeks and you’ll find yourself happy, but still harassing devs for a native Linux release :)
I can relate. Most of the time this means a lot of regrets. But sometimes it leads to welcome discoveries.
I’d do the the opposite. I generally use the default “cordially”. But if someone pissed me off I’d use something overly formal and polite like “amicably thanking you for your eventual reply over the matter; if it pleases you”
Don’t people use it mainly as a calendar? You can see events near you and get alerts to those you’ve signed up for. There are alternatives of course but I feel a lot firms and people publicize their event through Facebook.
Makes me remember this one time in English class in France where one student called him Jean-François Kennedy. The whole class had a good laugh, including the teacher 😅
My last phone with standard Google Android had a 5000 mAh battery while the new degoogled has one with a bit more than 6000 mAh I think. Even then I feel the overall increase in battery life cannot be explained with hardware only. Without watching videos or playing games, I only have to charge my new phone every 3-4 days. And I’ve background apps like syncthing running all the time. I’ve just checked there’s actually a few other open source forks of android other than LineageOS. If you’re disappointed with it.
Well I use Firefox on vollaOS. It’s not fully degoogled in terms of apps for sure but I hope change will come.
I’m using the volla phone x23 which runs vollaOS, an android fork without all those pesky Google background processes. It uses MicroG to simulate them though, since most Android apps expect them now.
I feel mildly insulted. I use arch btw.
