The Volvo EX90 is a 7 seat EV.
Volvo makes quite a few EV and hybrids now. The “Overseas Delivery Tourist Experience” is also a nice touch if you ever wanted to go to sweden.

I’ve been looking at the EV9 and people who have driven it seem to love a lot about it, except for one thing. The incessant beeping. It has safety features that beep about everything and often you don’t know why it’s even doing it. You can turn it off but they only stay disabled till you turn off the vehicle. next time you get in bEep BEep beEp.
My wife would end up lighting it on fire and pushing off a cliff she would be so annoyed. If there is no way to permanently disable it then hard pass.
Most new EV models allow you to set a “leave time” for when your car needs to be fully charged, with a warm battery and a pre-heated cabin. For example, Tesla owners have the ability to “precondition” their car, which entails setting a time via the Tesla app for their car to pre-heat.
Many people pre-heat standard engine cars in the winter, setting an app isn’t really that much different and arguably more convenient.
It’s a stupid argument to be so concerned over power being used when ICE are ridiculously wasteful. In a standard 50L tank 30 liters literally goes to doing nothing other than getting hot. If your EV is pulling 60% of the total energy bill to keep the battery warm you have other issues that need looking at.
Just out of curiosity are you clutching your pearls over the clock drawing power while your car is parked too?
Yea you can just pay to heat the air in a internal combustion engine where 60% of the energy goes to making heat instead.
What is even your point?
If you don’t have a block heater you don’t live someplace cold, just chilly. Either way it’s no reason to not get an EV.
I had a 87 corolla for the longest time. I sold it to a teenager a over a decade ago and I still see it rolling around town. Great car if you are only worried about going a-b and don’t need fancy things like usb chargers or A/C.
Block heaters are a thing for decades and no one worries about needing to keep the oil warm. Don’t see how warming a battery is any different.
Over the last century, the Land of the Free has slowly transformed into a land governed by endless laws, largely by cracking down on vices instead of actual crimes, creating a society that would render us all criminals if our behavior were constantly observed.
Just the framing of the first line is like something out of an Ayn Rand hallucination. When I see something that heavily tilted the first thing I look for is WHO is writing it and WHY would they.
How do you pronounce xitter?
Wow it’s been years since I read GEB…
I should revisit it. Thanks!
My quote from the installers that were on the list of qualified installers for the rebate was always around 20K and up for a 3 head system. It was not worth paying the premium to get the rebate but I’m pretty handy on the tools.
I could break my system completely 2 times and still come out spending less when I bought a 3rd one compared to having a “Qualified Pro” install it for me. Especially since I now have all the hole saws, vacuum pump, flare kit, electrical is done etc, so there is no added expense beyond buying the unit now.
If you are not comfortable with gas fittings, electrical, cutting holes in the side of your house etc… It might be a different calculation.
The one I bought is under 4k CAD. https://senville.ca/36000-btu-tri-zone-mini-split-air-conditioner-sena-36hf-t/ and is medium DIY friendly.
You can get brands like Mr.Cool that are very simple to install.
They are honestly pretty easy to install if you are at all handy. The smaller ones (like for a room) have minimal electrical needs and are something you could get an electrician buddy to do for a case of beer if you buy the parts off amazon. Depending on the brand they are varying levels of DIY but nothing a 5 min youtube video can’t teach you. All in for my house it was 6k and a saturday afternoon to get it done.
You could have gotten a whole home mini split from senville for less and it works down to -30. My heatpump from 15 years ago only did down to -10.
I found all the HVAC guys in my area were still really pushing the heatpump and furnace combo because that’s what they knew and not what was best, cheapest or most efficient.
Go have your tantrum elsewhere.
Nope in BC in a little city. The cost of houses here is rarely 1 Million. You seem to just want to be mad about things even if you need to exaggerate to be able to stomp your feet like a toddler over it. Since you have some anger over this so I’m gonna bid you a good day since talking to you is pointless when facts don’t matter.
They aren’t.
I just moved last year.
But keep hyperbolizing, it only undermines the point you seem to want to hammer on.
Not all of us live in big cities where we would need to cry over high rent and house prices.
In Canada you can get a 40k loan from the federal govt that is 0% interest on a 10 year term for doing green upgrades to your home. My solar generates more in credits than than the cost of the loan over the year. The Greener Homes Program is a bit of a pain to jump through all the hoops but getting thousands off in grants and a 0% loan is worth it.
I don’t think you know what Apartheid is sorry.
