  • Holy duck! Lemmy has become r/conservative.

I’m a leftie and can’t stand tankies, but lemmy is becoming a really intolerant place. On reddit we were all united against u/spez no matter our other disagreements. Here, after only a few months we’re talking about blocking instances and communities instead of just joining and viewing the ones that Interest us…

Perhaps it’s time to let this experiment run its course.

  • I’m so sorry man. I hope you find some happiness or at least less misery sooner rather than later. I’m about your age, closed my business a little over a year ago (covid stuff) and while I spent most of the “free” time working on renovating our house I’m at a point where I’ll need to start looking for a job. I’m not thrilled with (or perhaps dreading) the idea.

Well, there are Libertarians and libertarians. From your username I gather you’re a Libertarian and not just a GOP moron libertarian who might hate corporations but will defend their “right” not to be regulated, while receiving government subsidies.

Do you work for Elon Musk? If so get a different job. Are you making a shitload of money? Is not, get a different job. If yes, spare us your crying about delivery fees. Are you Elon Musk? If yes, fuck you. If no, get a different job. I mean you sound miserable and have no life. I’d rather be homeless than live like that.

  • To be honest, I don’t really care that much. Once upon a time I got excited about updates and new features, now I just want things to work. I enjoy exploring Linux and how it’s different, I like seeing the updates come in and it makes me feel safer, but at the end of the day, I’m just a normal user who needs much less than the OS offers.

  • I’ll keep the desktop with ubuntu and kde plasma and I’ve installed openSuse tumbleweed on the laptop. The ssd made a huge difference. I’ve made it dual boot with win7, which I’ve reinstalled on the laptop and they’re both blazing fast. It’s a steep learning curve, but I like the freedom of Linux versus the big brother approach of Windows.
