If it’s just for local you can add dns hostnames in the gui. I have all my lan boxes defined in pihole with the .lan under the local dbs ootio. Might even work for external too

I was working on something like this to add a bot user and follow active communities but got distracted. Looks like I can quit that side project hahah
U can use headscale and make it pretty much 100% self hosted
Ya I’d be fully Linux after that. Still too many benefits of having your own hardware.
I haven’t been able to get it to work for jerboa for new instances I’ve had to go to the actual site and search it
Less likely to get a dmca notice from private
I use tailscale on my pihole container and add the tailscale ip as dns for all tailscale devices. Then u just have tailscale one your phone laptop or w.e and will be using that dns. No ports opened at all.

Just posted my compose for an arm oracle box. The other day. It works pretty well and if u switch to pay as you go but stay under ur limits I think they won’t take you down as easily.

/feeds
/nodeinfo
ya i used nginx proxy manager. you have to put some custom locations in and passthrough some headers for reverse proxy to work.
