You should know that things you might find normal or acceptable are not the same things that neurodivergent people find normal and that’s ok we all have different experiences and we should be tolerant of those.
I’m not saying OP is neurodivergent but I am and I might do things you think are odd as I might with you.
No silly! The question asked by u/ntma ⬆️
I once got banned from that subreddit for asking a question that was too stupid
Owning your mistakes is sexy as hell.
That’s not very nice, there are no stupid questions; seeking knowledge isn’t stupid.
That said I am curious what the question was.
You don’t find happiness. It comes and goes. Imagine being happy all the time; it would just become normal. You need non happy times to appreciate the happy times.
As someone that is either very happy or very sad, I find happiness in my hobbies. I need my mind to be occupied to pass the time, but then there is the thought I’m just waiting to die and passing time.
Hobbies that make me happy are:
As someone who is down a lot of the time and has ADHD but stopped the meds as the side affects were worse than living with ADHD; I’ve found that routine is a massive thing required to be content with life. Consistent bed time and wake time. I am not a morning person but after 18 months of waking at 07:30 or 06:00, depending on if I’m taking the train to work, that I now wake up a few minutes before my alarm quite often; I’m still tired and I hate it but it gets easier.
Spending time with other people is key too. I find if I’m down it’s usually cause I’ve been alone a lot (which I love) and that can be bad for me so I’ll go see friends even if I don’t want to just to engage.
Luckily I can spot when I’m spiralling. I have an urge to fire up Minecraft and live vicariously through Steve and shut out the world.
Me when I discovered Ren a couple of days ago listening to his music constantly for two days.
You will not be disappointed if you check him out.
Disclaimer: I’m all about the lyrics, so you need to listen to it all. This guy has everything though.
Thanks. I will do.
Thanks for this.
This is something!
Maybe it’s just the Package Manager Console inside Visual Studio Professional as “add-migration” or “update-database” don’t work unless capitalised.
What distro would you recommend, I’m prepared to try over the weekend.
How does it work with GPU drivers for a GeForce RTX 4080?
Anything else I need to be aware of
What are you writing code for?
I literally can’t think of an example where ssh’ing into a terminal is going to give good workflow. Just using Nano or Vi?
Like no IDE.
Makes sense for sysadmin or something but little sense for developers and engineers writing code to build enterprise software.
Same.
it’s almost like people make choices to suit their needs and there isn’t a single solution for everybody.
I wonder what the industry standard is for developers? Genuinely. I’ve heard it’s Max, but my company is all in on Microsoft, not really heard of companies developing on Linux. Which isn’t to say Linux doesn’t have its place, but I’m aware this place is insanely biased towards Linux.
We use windows PCs at work as software engineers now, but when I was training I used a MacBook Pro M1 with 16GB of RAM and that thing was incredibly performant.
I know it in vogue to shit in Apple, but they build the hardware and the software and they’re incredibly efficient at what they do and I don’t think I ever saw the beachball loading icon thing.
Now the prices they charge to upgrade the RAM is something I can get behind shitting on.
To each their own I guess, I prefer to just abstain from mockery as I don’t see how it changes anything.
That said I respect your right to write what you want and hope you have a nice rest of your day. 😊
I would argue getting mad over something so trivial as sad.
The genocide being committed in Palestine is something that makes me mad.
The fact that we are happy for our largest companies to outsource work to poorer countries makes me mad.
The fact that corporations seemingly control the world and don’t pay their fair share makes me mad.
Apple making a MacMini with a button on the bottom is irrelevant to me, in the grand scheme of things it’s not even an issue.
So I actually did it and wiped my Windows PC, nothing on there I needed to keep.
Set up Fedora and added the Nvidia Drivers.
Shut down for a few days and in my next boot I downloaded CoolerControl. Then my networking died and I’m at a loss as to what happened.
And people said it was just the same as using windows, yet me a massive nerd, software developer was stuck without ever having attempted to play games.
