One of the interesting things I discovered after doing a few overnight passages is just how fast the moon moves across the sky as well as how bright it is when there’s no other light!
Delayed reply :). But I’d think a lot. I also imagine putting it on the trailer would be difficult!
Sounds fun! While I grew up with my dad owning a sailboat (2 different ones 22 and 25’) my wife had no idea how to sail.
We took a week long liveaboard ASA (101,103,104). While she definitely learned a lot, it was on a 43’ boat. Even though I can sail it was weird not having the immediate feel of the wind like I always had on smaller boats.
But it was a fantastic week, and we were mentally ready to sell everything and move onto a sailboat :)
Ya, pretty wild setup for sure…
I’m trying to support the change. I joined 6/11, I stopped visiting the other site the same time.
I created a community that didn’t exist yet here (in the fediverse) and am trying to post /comment more then I would normally. I wasn’t a lurker over there but I am more engaged here.
Long live the new(ish) fediverse :)
Edit: I also removed my content and deleted my 12yo account on 7/1
Ya, I’m not going back, I wrestled with deleting my content or not for weeks. Decided last night to wipe my history and today I deleted my 12yo account.
Good riddance, not gonna browse in any fashion logged in or not. No clicks from me.
It’s an O’Day 23-2 (shole keel w/centerboard)
Just my sheet cleated off over where I am :) when I’m out by myself I tend to do that as I’m in the middle releasing/pulling on tacks, so I just pull it over where I’m sitting.
Backblaze, move everything u want to an external attached hdd and then back that up with the backblaze client
I discovered top and think top/day is good for any of the subscriptions, local or all. At least compared to active/hot
Brookville Lake in Indiana. It is, unfortunately pretty narrow, so there’s typically a ton of tacking. That said, a few weeks ago, I went the whole length (available by sailboat) on a single tack for the first time. It was pretty wild.
Don’t have a lot of advice, took my ASA classes down in Ft. Lauderdale, and some of the cool places we stopped was no name key, Boca Chita Key and at our furthest point south we stopped/ate at Gilberts resort. It was a decent meal/stop.
Boca Chita
On a whim tonight I just went to https://join-lemmy.org/ from a reddit post, looked at the list of servers, found lemmy.world accepting logins, created an account, and here I am. Was super painless/fast. BUT, now to figure out how to sub to communities and setup my feed!
Looks like a fun time. With one other guest I bet you can lower the O’Day mast to get through the bridge (while on the water) I you really want to sail it!
