Ever since the armed rebellion that he attempted the Russian state media apparatus and all of the millbloggers as a whole have been ordered to remove Prigozhin completely, to erase him from the public view.

And that is similar to soviet tactics from Stalin’s time, where similarly erasures have been performed.
The most well known ones was the picture in which Stalin appeared next to Yezhov, Yezhov former chief of NKVD eventually fell from Stalin’s grace, long story short he got a sham trial and later executed.

Reddit had a huge amount of tankies that only lived on a handful of isolated subreddits.

I don’t know about others but this hasn’t been my experience. From what I’ve noticed a lot of left or left-leaning subreddits have been taken over by tankie mods.
I’m much happier with how kbin/lemmy/mastodon/etc work, at least this way I can choose my left/hard-left/left-leaning communities that I wish to interact with without them being controlled by tankies or other authoritarian flavors.

Hello fellow kbinner… kbinnite… kbinmate… what’s the word we’re calling each other again? Anyway, I feel the same way.
One of the main reasons why I didn’t choose lemmy was explicitly because the kind of red authoritarian crowd they seemed to attract. Sure, there’s gonna be people like that on kbin as well, but so far it’s been pretty decent from my point of view.
Ngl, the drama is pretty nice when you’re not involved in it 🍿

Pro-tip: don’t make the same mistake that I did. Before deleting your account use one of those tools to mass-edit all of your comments (forgot what the tool were called tho), replace the text with either a dot or with something like “user has moved on to X social network”, the less content reddit has the better. Why? Because fuck em, that’s why.

Homogenization of the internet led us to a handful of corporations dominating social media websites and that is awful.

If you ask a liberal what “tankie” means you will get a response that sounds a lot like if you ask a conservative what “woke” means. The two main developers are communists, trying to collectivize social media. It is very shocking. 🙄

Opening with challenging the definition of “tankie” without knowing or asking on what definition I operate on is quite the red flag. Also the condescension instantly put me in defensive mode.

Thank you for the links, now after seeing that individual’s defense and apologia of the genocidal soviet empire I’m more than convinced that is not the place for me.
Just from a cursory glance alone his attitude is vehemently imperialistic, not too different from what I’ve experienced from many privileged westerners.
Whether his heart is or is not in the right place, that’s another matter. But after a year and a half of excruciatingly depressing takes from western leftists of all kinds, I’m not going to surround myself with people that I disagree most, I value my mental health more than that.
