why all this fuss about lossless audio? Spotify premium is literally indistinguishable from lossless audio for 99.9% of the population and songs (because not all songs will be lossless or are even mastered in a way that makes a difference). granted if…

• you have the right hardware
• you have the ear trained to hear compression
• you picked a song that has audible compression artifacts however small they may be
• you are in a quiet room
• you are actively looking for compression artifacts

you may hear a difference. if you think otherwise, then do a lossy vs lossless blind test and be impressed that you actually cannot hear the difference most of the time (especially without actively looking for the artifacts)

It’s purely anecdotal but every time I’ve used an Ubuntu based distro it has been unstable or it nuked itself after 6 months to a year of use. I’ve been on fedora for 2-3 (4?) years now and I’ve not had a single issue apart from the Nvidia drivers behaving wonky sometimes.

It’s rare that I see something this false on here, damn. Nvidia does supply Linux drivers and they are 95% painless nowadays (still much worse than what is found in Mesa for Amd or Intel, but the bar is high). Intel has excellent Linux support, better than AMD in some cases (think wifi chips). Anectdonally, I have had a bit of issues with my Amd laptop, and the flaws were all related to the integrated GPU!

But the thing is out of the big companies, basically none of them are in the business of selling the data they have. They are much better off if they don’t allow competitors to grow by keeping all the data to themselves.

The main differences will be the overclock that is applied from the factory, and that mostly depends on the quality of the cooler and fans, and the quality of the power delivery components. Lower end cards will have louder and less efficient coolers, and a less capable power delivery system which will make an overclocked card less stable and more prone to overheating. But in reality the difference is minimal, like low single digit performance difference minimal.
