I waddled onto the beach and stole found a computer to use.

Note: I’m moderating a handful of communities in more of a caretaker role. If you want to take one on, send me a message and I’ll share more info :)
Instead of our, they use are as if they forgot the word our exists.
I’m not sure if I’ve seen this, is this about the pronunciation?
I think it’s just for comments?
I’ve been wanting the same for posts for some time now
Research and organized information on a topic, however obvious it might be, is an important step towards policy changes. We also see those changes from time to time, for example some recent EU decisions
Is this related to the new laws in Europe? I remember seeing something about Facebook introducing a paid tier

I wonder what happens if a comment is deleted
The article also linked to this Mastodon post where someone has been sharing their findings

One potential concern is
the fact that Redbox machines contain a file that has “a complete list of titles ever rented, and the email addresses of the people who rented them, and where and when.” She also found that the first six and last four digits of credit card information was logged. She said that the records on the particular unit that she was looking at contained 2,471 different transactions and had records on it dating back to 2015.
This is good feedback, and I agree. I try my best to limit moderation to content that needs removing, and simply vote on the rest.
One thing I find is that mods are more likely to remove/nuke a thread when they’re stretched thin or there is a wave of rule breaking content. Bringing on more active mods can help so that each mod can spend more time scrutinizing each post.
The other great thing about the Fediverse is that you can make your own version of a community if you disagree with how one is being run. I’ve joined a few communities with different styles of moderation
What communities do you check that are more quiet now?
I think it’s because it’s just memes and also quite hard moderation and downvotes
Could this be specific to the American election?
I feel like I’ve seen more items in the moderation queue recently. I can’t say I’ve had to act on more items though
I can only speak for myself:
I’m here, still reading and voting, but I haven’t posted/commented as much recently.
Life got a bit busy, should be back to normal in a bit

Canada:
First, locked phones are a thing of the past. Effective December 1, 2017, service providers will have to offer unlocked devices to their customers.
What are the benefits of having an unlocked device?
An unlocked device can be used on other networks, which means that you will be able to switch providers and keep the same phone. That means more flexibility for you, the consumer.
You could take it a step further and set a temporary network name & password for the hotspot, and then change it back afterwards
that way you can use your hotspot near your TV in the future without worry
It might be helpful to be able to set default per community for something like this. For example, [email protected], it would be a jumbled mess to have it be all in one thread
Well this is duck duck go, I don’t think that is personalized?
See if you can find guides for “Wi-Fi card replacement” for the model that you are looking into. For guides, try https://www.ifixit.com/
If it is a simple matter of unplugging a card (like the image above), it should be easy enough to undo if something goes wrong. Then instead of replacing the Wi-Fi card, just leave it out.

So what’s our timeline here?
Not long! It will probably happen in our lifetimes. We just need to figure out… how to make it work

Thank you!
Makes me think of this classic:
