I just assumed they were the weird emphasis quotes people do for some reason

I had to look up his bio (where I learned that he had just died, this post makes more sense now) and found that he actually had no biological children, so he would actually be eligible for a Darwin Award.

Hey, it’s a thing, blame the Japanese!
You fry the rice in ketchup, serve it in an omelette. Optionally top with more ketchup.
Can sub the ketchup for demi-glace if that is more palettable, but that’s way more effort than I’m willing to put in for lazy time breakfast food.

Fry the rice and egg up together with some soy sauce, add some garlic in whatever form, bonus points if you have any white pepper, suddenly elevated.
Or even just some ketchup, make omurice, can’t go wrong.

Risotto plus some random protein, not sure which but I have options.
Risotto is easy to make and doesn’t look like much, but it’s hard to say no to pure carbs, butter, and cheese.

Can’t say it’s original, I definitely stole it from someone else here who had the same grievance.

Yeah, that’s what I tried first, but it was basically a game of whack-a-moe.
I don’t like the nuclear option of outright blocking people, but blocking a single person is easier than blocking two dozen communities, and it future proofs it when they continue making new ones.

My trick: I ended up just blocking 5 or 6 total users and see almost none of it.

No kidding. Here I was today just trying to do an image search for some game artwork, and about half of the results were AI-generated slop, hosted on sites boosting their SEO by listing hundreds of keywords people might search for.
Why did this immediately start playing in my head as soon as I saw this picture?
The less colorful tufted titmouse common around here is actually my favorite variety. But honestly I just love birds.

Honestly one of my favorite birds, though. They’re just adorable.
I’m not a linguistics expert and this is just me offering an unsolicited layman’s opinion, but perhaps the nuance comes from whether or not one might still conceive of the words being related despite the acknowledged difference in definition?
For example, “bat” (the animal) and “bat” (the implement) are homonyms that are used to describe two clearly different things. But maybe one might think of “scale” being connected between its various uses when it is not. “Scale” (the measuring tool) uses plates which are similar to the flat plates of fish scales. Or that to “scale” a distance is like measuring a “scale” of height. Something like that.

????????
I think if you surgically remove a rib, yeah
FWIW I initially just took this in the context of the source material, Game of Thrones.
Cersei Lannister (pictured) comes from a noble house whose sigil is a lion. They use a lot of lion metaphors. One of the quotes from her father Tywin (in the show at least) is “The lion does not concern himself with the opinions of the sheep.”
Cersei as a character, though, is a bit of a hot mess who makes it her business to concern herself with everyone.
My 90’s childhood trauma resurfaced here.
I pressed + a few times to keep making the horse bigger, which made me happy, and wondered “How far can I go with this?”
So I pressed it a few more times, with diminishing results, and then I started feeling anxious for some reason. I realized I was thinking “Wait, this is a setup. How long until it turns into a horrifying face and screams at me?”
Too many old gimmicky sites/flash games that cause users to focus more intently/rush on through before throwing in a jump scare. Always hated that stuff.
Based on the other comments though, I’m relieved it seems to be an innocuous site that just helps a horse achieve its dream of becoming as big as it can possibly be.
Agreed. It will require careful redistribution of labor and resources to ensure stability with a declining population.
But nations typically want to hoard their resources, and the value of labor is measured only in overall utility to the billionaire class, so I don’t believe it will be a graceful decline for the majority of the world in practice.
How do I un-read something?
It never hurts just to start tossing out applications and see what you get. The best way to get better at interviewing is to do more interviews. Even if you think your odds of landing something are low, just go into it with the mentality of getting more practice until it feels comfortable. And who knows, you might be surprised by a good offer.
But I would also recommend being selective with where you apply, too. Basically don’t sell your skillset too low, and don’t apply for the types of open-ended jobs that will attract thousands of applicants and only waste your time. It can be absolutely soul crushing to send out 100 applications and never even get a response from 90 of them, but a good opportunity will come along eventually and you can develop a sense of which listings aren’t worth your time.
